starting to not like buccanneers

I noticed that several people commented about possibly reading The Buccaneers by Edith Wharton, maybe because of my description of it. I thought I'd better say that I'm a little over half way through the book (I'm not reading fast these days) and I'm starting to not like it so much. If it takes a turn I suspect it may take, I might not finish it.

Just so you know. :-)

Okay, you've got me curious. Why are you starting to not like it?

I've taken a little break from it while feeding my barcelona obsession. :-) I started not to like it because something sad is happening to the character I liked. I think Wharton was trying to make a point about the limited options available to women of the time. The book is starting to remind me more of The Awakening by Chopin. Not that that is entirely bad. I liked Awakening. But it's not a book that's going to necessarily cheer you, and right now I feel like being cheered. :-)
