geography guy

While watching me do an internet search on Spain yesterday Marcus said, "Mom, are we moving to Spain?"

"No, probably not. I mean, not right now."

"We should move to Gibraltar. That's part of the U.K."

"What? No, Silly. Gibraltar is part of Spain, see?" (I google 'Gibraltar.')

"No, Mom. Gibraltar is a territory of the United Kingdom."

And the little stinker was right.

LOL! Don't you just love when the kids know more than we do?

I can so totally relate - half of you is going "Grrr...." because a KID showed you up and the other half - the bigger half - is so incredibly proud of this little genius that you are somehow priveleged to be raising!!!

Haha. The funny part came when I was telling J about it. He said, "Marcus must have felt really proud of himself!" I thought about that and no, Marcus didn't seem particularly proud that he was showing up his mom. In fact, he seemed to take it as a matter of course. As in, "So she's not that bright, but that's o.k. I love her for other reasons." :-)

Well if it makes you feel any better, I thought Gibraltar was in the Middle East somewhere. I think that I'll buy LMx a globe.

Yeah, Middle East sounds reasonable to me. I mean, it's a weird name, ends with "altar" - makes sense. I remember Mum always saying that she used to get so frustrated with Levi when he was a little kid 'cause they'd be arguing with him about something, and he'd bring up points that they just really couldn't contest. What can we say, our generations just tend to get smarter and smarter!
