Is that you in the middle row with your eyes closed?

This reminds me of pictures of birthday parties from my younger days, too .... thanks for sharing!

Wow, I had forgotten about that fushia sweater. I don't think that you ever let me borrow that one!

Ave has revealed who I am--the one with painstakingly feathered hair and fuschia sweater, middle row, third from left.

I finally found this! I'm laughing hysterically in the lobby of my building reading about my birthday party. Thank you. I'm glad that you remember this as well as I do. It really means a lot to me because I was with you on the edge of the cool kids group. To know that this was one of the highlights of your seventh grade experience really brightens my day.

And yes, I remember similar things about junior high school. Not the best experience, but we were all so awkward, I'm not sure that it is ever a great time for anyone. Just something to get through to come into your own. Having taught high school and watching the kids grow up is an amazing experience too. We did have some great teachers, even if a few were a bit odd. Sometimes the teachers being odd is a good distraction from the students own gawkiness.
