loyalty

Last night Lidia and I were standing at the deli counter. "I think swiss cheese looks so cool. Mom, how do the holes get in the swiss cheese?"

I thought for a second and then replied, "You know, I can't remember. I used to know that, but I just can't remember."

Lidia says, "That's o.k., Mommy. Probably most moms never knew it in the first place."

Sorry if it's showing you up, but this is for the next time it comes up...

the holes are caused by the mold/bacteria that's aging the cheese.

Darn! I almost said that! But it didn't sound right to me. I should trusted my instincts and then I would have been the smart mom. Sigh. Maybe next time.

Well I guess I fall in to that group of Lidia's that never knew.

So here we are - 3 moms, one in each category. One knows, one used to know, and the third either never knew, or forgot so completely she never knew she knew.
