white

The white moutain villages of Andalucia are a must-see. And when they say white, they mean gleaming alabaster!
The first photo is of Ojen, and the others are of Frigiliana. I love the word "Frigiliana." Unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on your sense of humor) that's a soft "g" in Spanish, sounds like an "h." We were with friends for a couple days in the Malaga area. We asked how they kept everything so white, and they said people paint their houses every spring. They also scrub the outside of the house and the sidewalk or street in front of their houses. Not only do they do this in the white villages, but in the cities and suburbs, too. I've heard that their houses are just as immaculate on the inside.

I adore the flowers that hang down the walls.

so beautiful! this reminds me of when we were in the Greek Isles...it is amazing how white they keep everything.
Couldn't we all be like that even if just a little bit!
Then I see the graffiti and trash, dirt here...ah, kinda sad...

Thanks for sharing your wonderful trip!

It looks so calm and beautiful! Love it! Thanks for posting the pics. Makes me think, How do they give directions?
"Just turn right at the white house, go straight 2 blocks, until you see the white house, then our house is the white one."

Lovely. The top picture looks very similar to one hanging in the home of a farmer down the road. He is from Northern Spain. Love that they take care of their homes so well. Wonder why I didn't inherit that gene?

Wow-that is beautiful! Such a difference from the favelas here which are situated on hills just like that. They look kind of the opposite of that.

Gorgeous!

Gram (of "clean it or kill it" fame) would be in heaven

It's funny because they seem so laid back in their Latin way in so many respects. They are NOT however, laid back about housekeeping! Yes, truly a Gram kind of place.
